Research Interests

I am broadly interested in glacier-hydrologic dynamics over different time scales, particularly in the tropical Andes. My current interests span three substantive categories:

  • Paleoenvironmental reconstruction and analysis
  • Glacier-climate assessment
  • Glacier water resources

My research group entitled Glacier Environmental Change has a website under development at BPRC: http://bprc.osu.edu/glacierchange/

My work is based on field work in the American Cordillera, especially the Central Andes of Peru. I incorporate a number of methods and techniques, including geo-spatial analysis with GPS, GIS, and remote sensing; glacial geology; lake coring; hydrochemistry and modeling. Along with international collaborators in Peru, I am collaborating with a number of researchers, including:

Dr. Jeffrey Bury of University of California, Santa Cruz

Dr. Jeffrey McKenzie of McGill University

Dr. Christopher Hopkinson of Nova Scotia Community College, AGRG

Dr. Robert Hellstrom of Bridgewater State College

Drs. Zicheng Yu, Robert Booth and Joan Ramage of Lehigh University
